Smriti qualified in 2000 from the University of Bombay, India and worked there for a couple of years before marrying Shash and coming to the UK in 2002. Smriti enrolled to do her Masters degree in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Sheffield, which she completed with distinction. She then worked in Scotland, working in hospital training posts in Restorative dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery. Over this period, she completed her Membership exams from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and moved back to Yorkshire in 2005, starting a post in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
Following the birth of their first child Rohan, in 2006, Smriti left hospital dentistry and joined general dental practice, where she has been working for over 10 years apart from a short break in 2010 when their daughter, Rhea, was born. In addition to a busy job working in dental practice, she has kept up to date with advances in dentistry by participating in a variety of postgraduate training courses, as a tutor for final year dental students at the University of Sheffield and working as a NHS Specialty Dentist at Leeds Dental Institute.
Smriti loves providing high quality, bespoke dental care and enjoys building strong, enduring professional relationships with her patients, earning their trust. She has a lovely, calm and assured manner, which puts everyone at ease including the most anxious and nervous amongst us.
Smriti has friends and family all over the world, having grown up in Zambia and has siblings in the USA and parents in India. She loves travelling to see them all, cooking and oil painting (in her free time), which is rare with two kids. She spends almost all of her free time with her children; chasing homework, ferrying them to clubs, birthday parties and sleepovers.
